I've been frequenting Sam Ash in Tampa and every time I go in I demo the Big Muff Pi. Good, classic fuzzy.

OK, I found the answer--Monsterpiece.  Dude makes all kinds of different classic fuzzes for dirt cheap.  Look him up on Myspace.  I've got the NPN and it is FUCKING GREAT.

I just got the zvex fuzz factory. The funnest, wildest
fuzz/distortion pedal I've encoutered.

Best ever IMO: Blackout Effectors Musket Fuzz v2:
http://blackouteffectors.com/site/?page_id=6

It's not the cheapest but it's so interactive, while still being simple to get what you want, that you won't out-grow it.

Outstanding construction and sound. Cheaper in the long-run as you wont need another fuzz down the road.

My next choice, a bit cheaper, Barber Trifecta:

Outstanding sound and construction, the bottom is a little looser than the Musket Fuzz but you can hear examples of both online and there are plenty of reviews. Can't go wrong with either.

One that uses discrete transistors not ICs, like an original big muff pi.
The older the better.
Powered by a soggy, half-dead carbon (non-alkaline) battery.
Foxy lady... I'm comin' to get ya!
