the Real Big Deal
(glypher at 12 September 2008 11:19am)

well It's this weekend.

hope everyone has their tickets and the weather holds up.

tickets are still $53 in advance and are still available. (if you only want to go one day, it's $29). It jumps to $60 and $35 tomorrow.

In the great GBdC tradition, glypher has spent the last 2 days at work (read: not really working) putting together some schedules in the ever popular "awesome gbdc format".  i even attached the map on the second sheet.

clickies for download/printing goodness. it's in excel format. deal.

i expect all the gbdc'ers to be sporting their awesome schedules and wearing the special helmets.

I'll be there both days... because dianya (dirty D from the buzz, if you're nasty) suckered me into announcing bands with her on saturday.  i'm not sure which stage, but i know it's not the main one (thank god).  if you see me, bring snacks.

have a safe weekend!

The Canadian Press

August 12, 2008

Lake Louise, Alta. -- Police say a Florida man who disappeared Saturday evening while kayaking on a cold Rocky Mountain lake was not wearing a life jacket.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said yesterday that Matthew Andre Brown, 30, of Gainesville, Fla., is presumed to have drowned. His body has not been found.

Mr. Brown was staying at the Num Ti Jah Lodge over the weekend and decided to take a kayak out on Bow Lake, in Banff National Park. Although it was clear and sunny when Mr. Brown departed, a thunderstorm swept through the area, bringing heavy rain, high winds and lightning.

Mr. Brown's rented kayak was later found near shore, his belongings packed inside. An extensive search that included police, park staff and helicopters proved futile.

The old Alachua Music harvest allowed me to hang out all day, enjoy the sun and music, and actually GO HOME to take a shower, eat real food and sleep in a bed each night.

*yay* for stuff happening in the same town as my pillow.
